CURRENT RESEARCH THEMES

  • Prof. David C.L. Lam is a respiratory physician with a strong focus on translational research and clinical trials in respiratory diseases, including lung cancer, smoking-related conditions, airway physiology, COPD, and interventional pulmonology.
  • His research centers on the translation of scientific insights into clinical applications, particularly in lung cancer screening, early detection, and therapeutic interventionsin respiratory diseases.
  • In his laboratory, he has established and characterized novel lung cancer organoids and immortalized normal bronchial epithelial cell lines representing the localChinese population, which serve as cellular models for translational research in lung cancer, smoking, and airway physiology.
  • His work also investigates key oncogenic driver mutations, including EGFR mutations and ALK translocations, as well as circulating tumor markers.
  • Clinically, he performs advanced bronchoscopic procedures, including endobronchial ultrasonography and autofluorescence imaging.
  • He is an active member of the International Lung Screening Trial (ILST) Consortium, contributing to lung cancer screening initiatives and biomarker research.
